Born & raised in Minnesota, Tim and Sally Ryan were high school sweethearts who married, moved to Montana in 1977 and never looked back. They have created a family business that the whole family is a part of. The family business is hospitality and world-class skiing. Their three children are each enthusiastic ski racers and love all that is Montana: Alpine and Nordic skiing, hiking & horse back riding through the mountains, meadow and more.
When the Ryans came to Big Sky in 1980, they purchased Golden Eagle Management and grew their business from 50 to 200 vacation rental properties. In 1999 they sold the business to ResortQuest International and Tim stayed on as General Manager also selling real estate. In June of 2000, the Ryans purchased the River Rock Lodge, an upscale lodge located in Big Sky’s Meadow Village which became the headquarters for the property management operation. In January of 2006, the Ryans repurchased the property management business from ResortQuest, renaming it Resort Property Management at Big Sky, now offering 125 vacation rentals throughout the Big Sky area, all of which are privately owned condominiums and homes, as well as The River Rock Lodge.
Active within the Big Sky community, the Ryans have served on the Board of the Big Sky Owners Association. Tim Ryan is the President of Arrowhead Homeowners Association and Co-President of the Big Sky Ski Team. Sally was a founding board member and past treasurer of the renowned Big Sky Chapel as well as a past treasurer of the Ophir School Council.
